    Fees

We can offer a free 45 minute initial meeting (whether face to face or by phone or a combination of both). If your matter is relatively straight-forward this may be enough time to answer your questions. If not, then we can discuss what further services we can provide to assist you and the costs associated with them.

Longer phone consultations or meetings are by appointment (with our fee to be advised beforehand).

Focused Legal uses the hourly rate within the costs scale applying to the relevant Court, whether it is the Magistrates Court, District Court, Supreme Court, Family Court of WA, or the hourly rate for matters in the State Administrative Tribunal.

Ask us about fixed fees for particular work (for example drafting a will for you or securing a grant of probate) which we can provide depending on your instructions.

Ready to discuss your legal matter? Get in touch with us directly.

Can I get a free consultation?

Yes. We offer a free 45 minute face to face or phone consultation by prior arrangement.

    How much do you charge?

This will depend on what you require including which Court you would be litigating (should proceedings be commenced).

Can I see a solicitor after hours?

    Yes (by prior arrangement).

I have a dispute with my neighbour. What can I do?

A misconduct restraining order addresses disputes between neighbours. We can advise you about what can be done to assist you.

I live or work away – can we confer by Zoom or by video link?

    Yes, by prior arrangement.

Can you come to my home?

Generally, we can do this if, for example, you have a strata issue and then we can meet with you at the property in question.

How soon can I see a lawyer?

Generally, we will see you within a few business days of your first contact with us. How quickly our meeting occurs will depend on matters such as how much of your documentation there is for us to review before our meeting.

What should I bring to my first meeting?

Please bring with you photo ID (driver’s licence or passport) and any documents you want us to consider. If you are engaged in court proceedings please bring all of the documents you have. If possible you should email documents for discussion to us before our meeting.

Can I have an initial meeting before deciding whether to proceed?

Yes. We offer a free 45 minute initial consultation and at the end of this consultation you can make your decision (and take more time if you need it) about us assisting you further.

Can you draft my will and how much will it cost?

We can provide you with our wills questionnaire for you to complete and return. This questionnaire assists us to understand the outcome you seek in your will. After reviewing your responses to our questionnaire we can provide a price to prepare your will.

    Can you witness documents?

Focused Legal can witness your documents by prior appointment. However, a Justice of the Peace often attends the Family Court of WA to witness Family Court documents for those involved in Family Court proceedings. There are also Justices of the Peace who regularly attend local government offices to witness the documents of residents.

Can I get a copy of a document certified?

Yes, by prior arrangement. There is no charge for certifying copies of documents but we ask that you ensure that you bring with you to our offices the original document and a clean copy of the document for us to certify as a true copy.

I am being threatened by someone or feel unsafe. What should I do?

In this situation you ought contact the police whose role it is to deal with threats, assaults, and breaches of the peace. However, from time to time they may recommend you secure the protection of a violence restraining order. If so, or even if you are unsure what to do, we can provide you with some early guidance and advice to protect your safety and well-being.

How we charge primarily depends on what you need from us and which Court has jurisdiction over the type of matter you have.

Focused Legal offers several initial fee packages depending on the circumstances of your legal issue. The fee packages we offer are designed to facilitate the outcome you require such as one off or ongoing representation in a Court or the State Administrative Tribunal, or the drafting of a letter, a will, or other documents.

A free 45 minute initial meeting (face to face or by phone). This is an opportunity for us to meet and discuss what options may be available to you. If your matter is relatively straight-forward this may be enough time to guide you in the right direction to obtain what it is you wish to achieve. If not, then we can discuss what future legal advice and services we can provide to assist you.
